Kathryn Smith was Assistant to Professor Easterly from Sept. 2009 until April 2010. She received an M.A. from New York University (NYU) in international education development and a B.A. in mathematics from Bard College. Prior to NYU, she worked in Johannesburg for a South African NGO on tertiary education. Kathryn was previously an Intern at UNESCO in New York focusing on post-conflict post-disaster affairs and UN Reform and has since worked as a consultant for UNESCO- Paris in both education in emergencies as well on the development of a comprehensive disaster risk reduction programme for Viet Nam.
